Slow Games for When You Want to Wind Down

There's a whole category of game that isn't about winning at all. Sometimes you just want to potter about, follow a mood, and let a screen carry you somewhere calm before bed. Mobile is actually a perfect home for these.

Hollow Lantern is the clearest example we've reviewed recently. It's slow on purpose, an atmospheric walk through an abandoned town where the challenge is almost beside the point. Played with headphones in a dark room, it becomes something close to meditative.

Rooftop Brewers works differently but scratches the same itch. There's no fail state to speak of, just plants growing and drinks brewing at a pace that matches a quiet evening. You dip in, tidy up your little garden, and put the phone down feeling better than you picked it up.

We think these games deserve more attention than they get. Reflex tests and score chases are great, but a game that helps you unwind is doing real work too.
